Thinking about building your dream pool? You’re in the right place. At Auckland Inground Pools, we don’t just build concrete pools – we build long-lasting, high-quality swimming spaces tailored to your home and lifestyle. Here’s how the process works from start to finish.

INITIAL CONSULTATION – NEW POOL BUILD

If you don’t yet have a landscape or architectural plan in place, no problem – we can walk you through what’s needed and recommend trusted designers from our network to help get the ball rolling.

Starting with a solid plan means everyone is working from the same page – this saves time, money, and removes the possibility of confusion down the track.

Once you have a concept in place, we’ll go over the details with you. We’ll discuss your needs and wants, offer expert suggestions, and conduct a site visit to better understand your property and project goals.

DESIGN PHASE

Our team works closely with your landscape designer, architect, builder or landscaper to ensure the pool design is integrated seamlessly into the wider project.

From layout to levels, materials to functionality – we collaborate to deliver a custom solution that’s both beautiful and practical. Every detail is considered to ensure your pool complements the overall design of your home and outdoor living space.

RESOURCE & BUILDING CONSENTS

Navigating council consents can feel overwhelming – but we’re here to help.

We’ll guide you through the resource and building consent process to ensure the required approvals are in place before construction begins. If needed, we can connect you with experienced agents who can manage the process on your behalf and keep things moving.

EXCAVATION

Once consents are approved and we have the green light to start, we begin by marking out the site and excavating the pool area to the planned dimensions.

This phase involves heavy machinery and precise work, but our experienced team ensures minimal disruption and maximum care. Safety is paramount – for your home, your land, and our crew.

CONSTRUCTION

Now the exciting part begins! We use shotcrete construction for all of our poolsa robust method that creates a continuous, watertight structure built to last for generations.

After excavation:

  • We erect the boxing
  • Install steel reinforcement for strength
  • Lay out plumbing and electrical conduits
  • And then, the shotcrete is sprayed in under high pressure to form the shell, ledges and steps

This process is fascinating to watch and lays the foundation for a premium-quality pool.

PLUMBING & ELECTRICAL

Alongside the construction, we install your plumbing and electrical systems – this includes filtration, heating, automation, and lighting.

We ensure everything is done right the first time, using trusted brands and proven products that work efficiently and are built to last in NZ conditions.

FINISHING

This is where your pool really starts to come to life.

Our team applies the finishing touches by hand, with care and precision:

  • Waterline tiling (usually premium glass mosaic tiles)
  • Coping installation (stones or pavers around the edge of your pool)
  • Interior plaster application (customised colour just for you)

You’ll be able to see the effort and attention to detail that goes into every stage as your pool takes shape.

FILLING & TESTING

Once the finishing touches are complete, it’s time to fill the pool – but it doesn’t stop there.

This next phase is crucial to ensuring your new pool gets off to the best possible start.

We begin a thorough commissioning process, which includes:

  • Checking and adjusting water levels and chemical balance
  • Testing and fine-tuning heating, filtration run times, lighting preferences, and setting up of automation systems
  • Ensuring all equipment is running efficiently and safely

To protect the new interior surface and prevent staining or damage, we add specialised start-up chemicals — including sequestering agent which helps stabilise and support the curing process of the plaster. This step is vital for the long-term appearance and longevity of your pool surface.

If selected as part of your build package, we also offer fortnightly valet servicing for the first three months. During this settling-in period, our experienced technicians will:

  • Test and dose the pool / spa water at each visit
  • Monitor how the new plaster is responding
  • Make any necessary adjustments to keep water balance optimal
  • Email a thorough & detailed water balance report after every visit, so you can see exactly how your pool is performing over time

This means you can relax and enjoy your new pool from day one – without worrying about purchasing your own testing kits or becoming a water chemistry expert. We’ve got it covered!

HANDOVER

We walk you through everything – from operating your pool equipment to maintenance tips.

You’ll receive:

  • A detailed handover guide
  • Ongoing support from our team
  • The option to engage our sister company, The Pool Smith, for valet servicing and ongoing maintenance – keeping your pool in top condition year-round.
